Fruit Custard

Mixed fruits Custard

Ingredients:

Custard powder Vanilla flavour – 2 tbsp
Milk – 500 ml
Sugar – 3 tbsp
Red Apple – 1 big size, chopped
Pomegranate – 1 big size, de-seeded
Bananas – 4 small size, peeled and chopped
Dried Cranberries – 1.5 tsp

Instructions:

Take a bowl and add custard powder into it. To this, add 4 tablespoons of milk and mix well until it dissolves.

Boil the milk on medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. When the foam starts to puff up stir the milk and continue to boil it for another 2 to 3 minutes on low flame. Now, add sugar and mix well. When the sugar dissolves, slowly add the custard milk into it while stirring continuously. This helps to avoid the formation of lumps. Let this mixture boil for another 2 to 3 minutes. Keep stirring until you notice bright yellow tinge followed by thickening of the milk. Then, switch OFF the flame.

Set the hot custard milk aside and allow it to cool down under room temperature. Keep stirring it occasionally for faster cooling. This also prevents the formation of milk skin on its surface.

Take a big bowl and add chopped bananas, apple, dried cranberries and pomegranate seeds. Pour the cooled custard milk over the cut fruits and refrigerate it for 3 to 4 hours.

Lastly, take a small bowl and serve the cool mixed fruits custard as dessert or evening snack. Simple and tasty fruit salad is ready.

This dessert makes a great combination when served with sumptuous meal/ buffet or when there are guests at home. I LOVE to prepare this custard when there are loads of fruits at home or for birthday parties.

Kids would like this dessert especially because of the Vanilla flavour. This recipe is no less than an ice-cream and so it’s their favourite choice. I find this recipe as a good trick to treat kids who are picky eaters. Anyone with sweet tooth can just not deny it. Do try out and let me know your comments.

Summer and long vacations are the BEST time periods to experiment and have fun with kids. Introducing them to these simple recipes could be their saviours when you are held up at workplace and aren’t around to care for them. Isn’t it awesome to see them experiment and serve you with their learnings? My eyes pop and my smile touch the ears when I see them serve with Joy. What more can I ask for? Caring and sharing, the first step to make the little one a better person has surely led her to follow the right path. Wishing to see many more such surprises. Stay tuned to listen to my happy occasions.
