Herbal Hair oil
Ingredients: Aloe vera stems – 2 big size Red hibiscus flowers – 3, separate the petals Red onion – 1 small size, finely chopped Curry leaves – 1 small bunch Neem leaves – 1 small bunch Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp Coconut oil – 200 ml Instructions: Wash the Aloe vera stem and cut off the thorny edges using a knife. Immerse this stem in the water for atleast half an hour. This helps to get rid of the sticky brown glue. It is important to get rid of this gluey substance as it causes itchiness. Remove the Aloe vera stems and drain the cloudy water. Take a knife and slowly slide it under the skin of the Aloe vera. This would expose the gel. The smooth gel starts to stick to your fingers and makes it slippery to hold the Aloe vera stem. Do not worry. Wash your hands and flip the stem. Follow the same process and remove all the skin. Now, cut the gel into smaller pieces and put them in a blender. Blend it well. It turns into liquid. Please note that there is no need to add any water while blending. Take a small kadai and add the Aloe vera juice into it. Switch ON the flame and let this juice be boiled on low to medium flame. The water in the gel starts to evaporate. Keep stirring continuously until the Aloe vera gel starts to thicken and reduces to less than half. Switch OFF the flame and set it aside. Take a big kadai, add coconut oil and heat it. When the oil is heated add fenugreek seeds and stir until they turn brown. Now, add curry leaves and let them splutter. Add hibiscus petals and let them splutter. The petals start to wilt and change the colour to dark grey. Now, add diced onions and fry them stirring occasionally. Continue to heat the oil on medium flame. When the onions change the colour to light brown add neem leaves and let them splutter. Keep stirring until the neem leaves turn crisp. Now, add the thick Aloe vera gel into it and fry for another 2 minutes. This way the gel dissolves into the oil. Switch OFF the flame and allow the oil to cool down. NOTE: If the Aloe vera gel isn’t heated well, it takes longer duration to dissolve in the coconut oil. TIP: If the Aloe vera gel hasn’t dissolved well, then the hair oil will have a watery substance floating on its surface. Always follow the above procedure (cook gel first and reduce to half before adding it to the oil) in order to avoid any mistakes.
Lastly, take a big strainer and filter the herbal oil into a container. This oil can be stored in any plastic or glass containers for future use. It can last longer just like coconut oil and requires no preservatives. During winters if it hardens, just place the bottle in warm water. Due to heat, the oil starts to melt and it’s ready to use. Do not throw away the herbs/ residue collected from filtration process. Add them to a blender and grind into fine paste. Store this in a container and use it as herbal hair mask once a week. How to use herbal hair mask? Separate hair into small portions. Take small portions of herbal paste and apply it gently all over the scalp and hair. Make sure that the hair tips are also coated well with the herbal mask. This helps to prevent split ends or hair breakage at the tips. Since this blended herbal paste contains all the required herbs to boost the hair growth, there is no need to add any other additional ingredients. Tie the hair into a bun and leave it on for about half an hour to 40 minutes. This way the scalp gets hydrated. Wash this off with lukewarm water and mild shampoo. Continue to use this every week for healthy and shiny hair locks. How to use herbal hair oil? Separate hair into small portions. Dip your 2 fingers in the oil and apply it over the scalp and hair. My kids have been using this homemade hair oil for 4 years and there are no complaints on hair fall or dandruff. Instead, their hair is turning more thicker and stronger. The length of the hair has also increased with less need for trims as there are no split ends. I am quite happy with this homemade herbal hair oil. Who doesn’t wish for thick and long black hair? It’s everyone’s dream to have beautiful and shiny hair. My family is making this hair oil for self-usage since ages. My grandma used to make it and till date she has thick hair even at the age of 75+ years. Although we live in a fast-paced world, I still make this hair oil for my kids as I wanted to stand by our age-old methods. I thought of sharing this video with you all so that you all can benefit too.
