Indian Salmon Fish Fry

Indian Salmon fry: Easy and tasty fry

Ingredients:

Indian Salmon – 450 gm
Dry coconut powder – 2 tbsp
Red chillie powder – 1/2 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbsp
Dry ginger powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Lemon – 1/2 slice
Salt as per taste
Oil for frying

Instructions:

Take a whole cleaned Indian Salmon and cut it into fillets. You may also use readily available steaks to prepare this dish. In a bowl or plate mix all the ingredients well into a fine thick paste. If required, you may sprinkle some water to bind the masala into a small ball. Now, add the fillets and coat them well with the masala. Refrigerate it for 20 mins so that the fillets get marinated. Marination helps to enhance the flavor.

Method 1:

Shallow fry: Add 2 table spoons of oil in a pan and let it get heated. Now, add the fillets and fry evenly on both sides by flipping it on either side occassionally. This is an oily fish and it doesn’t need lot of time to cook. A minute or 2 is sufficient to fry. You may see that the oil is oozing out from the meat of the fish. Make sure that the fish has turned soft and white when you dish out. Serve it hot. I prefer cooking in this method the most as all the healthy fish oil remains in the pan which can be mixed with rice and served hot.

Method 2:

Deep fry: Add sufficient oil in a pan and let it heat. Once the oil is hot enough, add the fillets one by one and fry them on medium flame. Flip them on both sides and cook evenly. You may dish out the fish once the bubbles start to reduce. This method is preferred by my children as the masala would turn crispy.

You may serve this fry as starters or as side dish for main course. This fish is very tasty, expensive and rich in omega 3 fatty acids. There are lot of health benefits from consuming this fish. You may also mix some rice/ millet in the left over masala and fish oil, and binge. Trust me. It’s super delicious.
